Button, Button is a fairly chilling story, Dying Room Only makes for a good mystery, and ones like the Creeping Terror and Clothes Make the Man are darkly comedic and stick with you for a while. Later on in the day she brings up the odd encounter again and asks her husband why he wont talk about it.
Simply put, Matheson is a master of What If, there is something so simple it borders on genius with his set ups, he has such fascinating and imaginative premises. The hospital informs Norma that his insurance policy is 25,000 dollars with double indemnity Matheson 308. That having been said, I enjoy reading Matheson, but he's kinda like bingeing on junk food -- strictly empty calories. Norma asks what is to be done with the money, to which Steward remarks that they should spend it. He makes it clear that whomever pushes the button does not have to see the unknown person die. I wish I could tell you more but really the last few stories didn't really do anything for me.
