A camera had caught a boy running away from the crime scene minutes after the assault. He tried to yell for help, but he had no voice. However the owner of the candy shop said that no one by the look or name of Andy entered the store that evening. The former Royal gang member now longed to be Andy again. He could hear the sound of automobile tires hushed on the rain swept streets, far away at the other end of the long alley.
They ran into the alley together, running from the rain, the boy holding the girl's elbow, the girl spreading a newspaper over her head to protect her hair. She stood in the rain and said nothing, looking at the purple jacket that rested a foot away from his body. Now there was no pride at all. He rolled away from the jacket and lay quite still, breathing heavily, listening to the sound of his breathing and the sounds of the rain and thinking: Rain is sweet, I'm Andy. As a society, we do not notice the injustice within our culture.
The only triumph Andy had was when he managed to take off the jacket, to rid himself of the burden that was stealing his life. He was supposed to be safe with the Royals. A member of the Guardians, the rival gang, stabs him and rips the knife across his belly. We nearly feel his pain as Andy tells us the graphic description of his injuries. He tried to make a noise, a sound, and a grunt came, a low animal grunt of pain. He did not know he was dying. My people will begin to worry.
I will try to show why this short story On The Sidewalk Bleeding is so successful. He felt the pain tearing at his stomach when he moved. The blade had been drawn across his body. A rival gang of the Royals. He had told her he would be back in a few minutes, and then he had gone downstairs and found the candy store closed.
That made him suddenly sad. This attack shows the extreme dangers of Gang violence in the borough of Queens. There was another thing he did not know. He tried to crawl toward the doorway. He wondered if Laura would be angry. Later, a couple, Angela and Freddie, intervened in the situation, and were supposedly taking a walk.
The author tries to create a scary setting. A camera had caught a boy running away from the crime scene minutes after the assault. He saw the lettering on the jacket then. The story is set in New York. No, he thought, I can't be dying, not from a little street rumble, not from just being cut. He wondered why he'd never thought of them before, wondered why the rumbles and the jumps and the purple jackets had always seemed so important to him before.
He was supposed to be safe with the Royals. Another way the author makes us sympathise for Andy is how the author uses the idea of Andy being isolated from the rest of the world. After he had been relentlessly stabbed by a rival gang member in an alley, blood stained his side and filled his mouth. It was then that he wondered if he was dying. Someday he would marry her, and they would have a lot of kids, and then they would get out of the neighborhood. If Andy had realised what he had done by joining this gang. In another quote, it states clearly that he lay in pain waiting eagerly for someone to aid him.
His eyes became desperate at the moment he realized that he may die. It makes you hear the sound as if you are there in the story and makes you to keep reading on all the way to the end. Firstly the author makes the reader feel sympathetic towards Andy by using effective techniques to emphasise the agony and the painful phase that Andy is going through. I really enjoyed this story. Andy would have met a far different fate than that of death.
She runs to get a police officer who is dismissive of Andy's plight because of his gang member status. He took out his black pad, and he flipped it open to a blank page. He stood over him, watching him. The jacket was as stupid meaningless thing that was robbing him of his life. The story opens with the main character, Andy, who has just been stabbed because he is in a gang. It was not very much to ask of the world.
The jacket was poison to Andy. Andy wants to be known as Andy. He took out his black pad, and he flipped it open to a blank page. She had worked quickly and soundlessly, and now she was gone. According to police officers that arrived on the scene about 45 minutes after the ambush occurred. Andy is lying in the alley far from help and he can hear music but nothing or no-one is able to help him. One of the ways hunter builds suspense is through his dramatic and clever use of language.
